Our Classes

Combination Class Ballet and Tap

(Ages 3-6)

This introductory class is perfect for our youngest dancers. It blends the basics of ballet and tap, allowing children to explore movement in a fun and supportive environment. Students will learn foundational steps, coordination, rhythm, and simple choreography, all while building confidence and a love for dance. It’s the ideal way to start their dance journey!

Combination Class Ballet, Tap, and Pre-Jazz

(Ages 7-8)

As students grow, this combination class introduces them to more complex movements in ballet, tap, and pre-jazz. The class is designed to enhance their technique, musicality, and expression. It’s an excellent transition from beginner to intermediate levels, encouraging versatility and creativity. The perfect choice for dancers ready to expand their repertoire!

Intermediate Level Ballet, Tap, and Jazz

(Ages 9-12)

For dancers ready to refine their skills, this class focuses on developing technique, strength, and flexibility across ballet, tap, and jazz. Students will work on more challenging combinations and learn proper dance terminology. This class prepares them for advanced levels, emphasizing precision, performance quality, and a deeper understanding of each dance style.

Intermediate Level II and Advanced Ballet/Lyrical, Jazz

(Ages 13 and Up)

A challenging class for dedicated dancers looking to excel in ballet, lyrical, and jazz. Emphasis is placed on advanced techniques, artistry, and performance. Students will explore complex choreography, improve their stage presence, and express themselves through movement. This class is tailored for those committed to advancing their dance education.

Advanced Tap

(Instructor Placement Required)

For experienced tap dancers, this class delves into intricate footwork, rhythms, and musicality. Students will challenge their technique and speed with complex tap combinations and choreography. Instructor approval is required to ensure readiness for this advanced level.

Hip Hop

(Ages 10 and Up)

A high-energy class that explores the dynamic and expressive world of hip hop. Dancers will learn the latest street styles, grooves, and techniques in a supportive and fun atmosphere. Perfect for students looking to express themselves through bold and powerful movements while building confidence and coordination.

Intermediate Tap

(Ages 10 and Up)

Pointe

(Instructor Placement Required)

A specialized class for advanced ballet students ready to transition to dancing on pointe. Emphasis is placed on proper alignment, strength, and technique. This class is for dedicated dancers with prior ballet experience, as pointe work requires a strong foundation and commitment. Instructor approval is required.

Ballet Technique

(Ages 8 and Up)

This class is designed to strengthen ballet technique through focused exercises and combinations. Ideal for dancers looking to improve their alignment, strength, and overall ballet skills. It’s a great supplement to other dance classes, helping students build a strong technical base.

Jazz Technique

(Ages 9 and Up)

Dress Code

Combination Class:
Pink or black leotard, pink tights, pink leather ballet shoes, and black tap shoes.

Intermediate Class:
Pink or black leotard, pink tights, pink leather ballet shoes, tan lace-up tap shoes, and tan jazz shoes.

Intermediate Level II – Advanced Classes:
Pink or black leotard, pink tights, pink leather ballet shoes, tan tap shoes, and tan jazz shoes.

Pilates Class:
Comfortable clothes that allow you to move and stretch freely, such as leggings, yoga pants, and fitted tops.

Please note:
Hair should be neatly secured away from the face for all classes. Please avoid jewelry as it can be a safety hazard. We recommend labeling all dance wear with your child’s name to prevent loss. LeAnne Jones-Braly

Meet the Director

Dance Works is under the direction of LeAnne Jones-Braly. Affectionately known as Miss LeAnne, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from East Carolina University with a BS degree in Dance. Originally from Washington, she returned to open her studio, Dance Works Performing Arts Center. Miss LeAnne was the first NC Certified Dance Teacher in the Beaufort County School System at Northside High School from 1995 – 2001. Some of Miss LeAnne’s former students have gone on to pursue careers in dance. They have received dance education degrees and dance performance degrees. All students gain confidence and poise. Miss LeAnne is devoted to teaching all of her students the love, art, and techniques of dance.
